Superstars beat police team (again)

On Saturday, November 8, the Police Benevolent Association held their annual basketball game where the Watertown Police Department played the Harlem Superstars.

The final score of the game was not known, but the Watertown Police achieved their limited scoring only when the Harlem team decided to explicitly allow it. Ultimately, the police team suffered a resounding loss for the 24th consecutive time since the annual game was played since 1984.

Wick to organize third party
Organizational meeting scheduled for
Tuesday, December 9

The Watertown political landscape may soon see a third party, and organizer Dick Wick is hoping that party can change the very make-up of the Town Council. There will be an organizational meeting to form this party at 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 9, at the Thomaston Savings Bank.

Mr. Wick, a former chairman of the Republican Town Committee, split from that group in January over how the party was appointing nominees to boards and commissions, especially the Planning & Zoning Commission.

P&Z approves Route 262 zone amendments:
Become effective Friday, November 14

At the P&Z Commission's special meeting on Monday, November 10, the Route 262 planned commercial district zoning text amendments were approved by a vote of 5-2. The modified regulations will not be brought back to public hearing, and will become effective on Friday, November 14.

The decision to not have further public comment was made at the November 6 public hearing.

Minnich to sue council, town manager
Last week, P&Z Chairman David Minnich filed a letter of intent to take legal action against the Watertown Town Council and Town Manager Charles Frigon.

In the letter, Mr. Minnich stated that he will "pursue a claim of damages and expenses" against the stated parties on the basis that the Town Council violated his rights as a public official by inappropriately discussing complaints against him.
