The Watertown Lion’s Club has inducted a new member into its “Pride,” Eileen Couture of Litchfield Bancorp, a division of Northwest Community Bank located on Straits Turnpike in Watertown. This was sponsored by longtime Lion Ron Blanchard at a recent ceremony. WATERTOWN — In February, Michael Ganem left his job at Southbury’s Parks and Recreation Department to take over the role of Parks and Recreation director in Watertown. Mr. Ganem has been a Parks and Recreation Professional for over 12 years and when former Director Lisa Carew left, he took the opportunity to become the director because Watertown’s Human, Social & Leisure Services Department gave him the chance “to grow professionally” as it has more responsibilities.

WATERTOWN — Head Coach of Watertown High School Baseball Justin Gurrera admits the dream for him up until 2023 was to play in the big leagues, but said he feels coaching at his alma mater was the next best thing for him. Mr. Gurrera played baseball at Fairfield University after graduating from Watertown High School, and before being drafted by and playing in the Mets organization.

SOUTHBURY — Main Street Ballet’s spring production featuring two original works will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 11 at Pomperaug High School, 234 Judd Rd. “Antoinette’s Dream,” created by Artistic Director, Lizabeth Skalski is a modern day Cinderella story of a young dancer’s dream to be a great ballerina. Senior Bridget Dolan dances the role of Antoinette. Also featured are seniors Sofia Daddona as the East Indian Princess and Madison Willis as the Turkish Princess.

WOODBURY — Flanders Nature Center will host watercolor artist Diane Dubreuil, who will lead a three-session plein air watercolor class on Thursday, May 8, Friday May 9, and Saturday, May 10 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day on the Van Vleck Farm & Sanctuary at 5 Church Hill Rd. This adult class is designed for those who wish to begin painting en plein air with watercolors or for those with some experience who may need help redirecting his/her creative thinking.
