The Watertown Lions Club has awarded Maahi Patel the $2,000 Academic Scholarship for 2024. She will attend University of Connecticut with a double major of pharmacy and business. The Watertown High School Concert Choir and Chamber Choir performed in Community Music Day on Sunday, May 5 at the Church of Nativity in Bethlehem. The students rehearsed and performed with various conductors and local musicians. The program was funded by the Woodbury-Bethlehem Community Music Foundation, through a grant by the Thomaston Savings Bank. Students from the Select Choir of Swift Middle School were also involved.

The Watertown Oakville Chamber held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, April 25 to help Watertown’s Braxton Manufacturing Company, Inc. celebrate their 60th anniversary. For six decades, the company has been manufacturing challenging parts used in a wide variety of industries, including medical, electronics and aerospace. WATERTOWN — Watertown won against Northwest United (NWU) on May 8, by a score of 15-5. Not only was the score one-sided, but the Warriors controlled the time of possession and shot-on-goal opportunities, as well. There were 21 opportunities in the first half alone, to jump out to an 8-1 lead. Coach Michael Kenny praised his face-off player and midfielder, Andrew Brown, and another midfielder, Ty Housen, for controlling the ball and finding the favorable matchups.

THOMASTON — The Fine Arts Connection of Thomaston (FACT) will hold an “Art Around the Hall” event from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 18 at the Thomaston Town Hall, 158 Main St. The free event centers around the theme “Find the Time.” All day activities include an art show featuring paintings by the FACT Ten-2-One Artists and photos by the FACT Camera Club, a photo booth, Child’s Fairy Garden, Find the Time Match Game, Find the Time Search, Sidewalk Chalk and Bubbles.

MIDDLEBURY — Brass City Ballet, a leading non-profit dance school and student performing company will host an Open House event from noon to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 19 at the BCB’s studios at 1255 Middlebury Rd. The day will be filled with free dance classes and a performance. The Open House is part of Brass City Ballet’s community engagement program, BCBeats. Throughout the year, BCBeats brings free classes and performances to the region, fostering a love for movement and the arts within the community.
