The WHS girls’ tennis team prevailed to win the NVL team tournament championship on Monday, May 20, by defeating St. Paul-Bristol 6-1. Watertown (21-0) dropped just four games in three matches leading to the title, also defeating Holy Cross-Waterbury (5-2) and Wolcott (6-1) in the quarterfinals and semifinals, respectively.
The Watertown History Museum announced High School Senior Olivia Catherine Pasquale as the winner of the first Florence T. Crowell Scholarship. Ms. Pasquale was chosen based on her academic achievements, community involvement, and her interest in history. She plans to major in either political science or pre-law at Ave Maria University in the fall. The scholarship’s namesake is best known for being a beloved town historian who served multiple roles at the Watertown History Museum over her 40 years of service.

WATERBURY — Waterbury Hospital honored dozens of emergency medical service during its annual EMS Awards Banquet on May 22, including Waterbury’s newest service, Hatzalah Ambulance. The banquet, held during EMS Week, recognizes the outstanding contributions of local emergency medical professionals. The event underscores the essential and dynamic relationship between area EMS providers and Waterbury Hospital, which plays a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of the community.
The game came with all the exhilaration that would be expected from a championship game. About two minutes into the overtime period, Julian Guerrera scored the walk-off goal to lift Watertown over St. Paul, 11-10. Coach Michael Kenny said of Guerrera, “[He] picked up a stick a year and a half ago; super coachable kid, and he just ended it for us when we needed him to.”
