On April 24th the residents from Country Ridge at the Watertown Housing Authority had a special guest at their coffee hour. Watertown’s Animal Control Officer Judy Umstead and her comfort dog Lola. Lola left smiles on all of the residents that were able to meet her. State Sen. Eric Berthel (right) honored Watertown native and former Navy SEAL Christopher Shea (left) in the Senate Chamber on Wednesday, May 1, for founding the “Hero to Hero” program, which helps special operators and other highly skilled military veterans transition to first-responder careers. After a notable career in the armed services, Mr. Shea also serves as an active firefighter with the North Haven Fire Department. During a pause in the Senate proceedings for Sen. Berthel’s Point of Personal Privilege, Mr. Shea was joined by his wife, Anita (middle), for the recognition.

SOUTHBURY — After 37 years in business, 25 of those being in Watertown, Images Studio has moved to a new location in Southbury, 49 Peter Rd. Owner Lisa Daunis explains there are multiple reasons behind this move, including being closer to her grandkids, it being a good area for all the surrounding schools they cover, and wanting to have that “nice outdoor area” to take photos.
WATERTOWN — It’s been an eventful and successful spring for Watertown Varsity Softball. WATERTOWN — The Watertown Art League will host a demonstration at their monthly meeting with pastel artist Christine Ivers from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Monday, May 13 at the First Congregational Church, 40 Deforest St. Ms. Ivers artwork often features pastel nightscapes with high contrast and glowing vibrant color. She received her BFA from Hartford Art School and has worked as an advertising professional as well as teaching art classes.
